Cookies Policy
Effective Date: Apr 16, 2025
Introduction
This Cookies Policy explains how Barie.AI ("we" or "us") uses cookies and similar tracking technologies on our website and platform. It is intended to be read in conjunction with our Privacy Policy, which provides further details on our data processing. By using Barie.AI, you agree that we can use cookies as described in this policy. If you do not agree, you can disable cookies via your browser settings or refrain from using our site (though some parts of our Service may not function properly without cookies).
Barie.AI's mission is to provide "Effortless Intelligence" and a seamless user experience. Cookies help us in doing so by remembering your preferences, keeping you logged in, and understanding how our platform is used so we can continually improve it. We want to be transparent about our use of cookies and give you control over them. In this policy, we describe what cookies are, which ones we use, and how you can manage them.
What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer or mobile device when you visit a website. They are widely used by online service providers to (for example) make websites or services work, or to work more efficiently, as well as to provide reporting information. Cookies set by the website owner (in this case, Barie.AI) are called "first-party cookies". Cookies set by parties other than the website owner are called "third-party cookies". Third-party cookies enable third-party features or functionality to be provided on or through the site (like analytics, advertising, and interactive content).
Cookies can remain on your device for different periods of time. Session cookies are temporary cookies that are stored in your browser's memory only for the duration of your browsing session and are deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies (also known as permanent cookies) have an expiration date and remain on your device until they expire or you delete them. Persistent cookies help us recognize your device when you revisit our site.
In addition to cookies, there are other similar tracking technologies we might use, such as web beacons (tiny graphic images embedded in emails or websites that track whether an email is opened or a page is viewed), pixels, local storage (used by web browsers to store data), and software development kits (SDKs) in mobile apps. For simplicity, this policy refers to all of these technologies as "cookies."
Why We Use Cookies
We use cookies and related technologies for several reasons:
Essential Functions
Some cookies are necessary for our site and Service to function properly. For example, we use cookies to authenticate users, so when you log in, a cookie helps us keep you logged in as you navigate between pages. Without these cookies, you would have to log in on every page, and certain actions (like purchasing credits or using the AI agents) might not be possible. These cookies also help us enforce security, by enabling features like CAPTCHA for bot detection or remembering if you have two-factor authentication enabled.
Preferences and Personalization
Cookies help us remember your settings and preferences to give you a better experience. This includes remembering your chosen language, the region you're in, or other customizations (like if you prefer a dark theme, or if you've dismissed a tutorial or announcement so we don't show it again). By recalling these preferences, cookies allow us to provide you with content tailored to your interests and avoid repetitive information.
Analytics and Performance
We use analytics cookies to collect information about how users interact with our website and platform, which pages are visited, and any errors encountered. This helps us understand and improve the performance of our Service. For instance, we use Google Analytics to gather aggregate data on usage (e.g., number of visitors, popular pages, how users find our site). These cookies may track things like how long you spend on the site, which features you use, and what site or marketing campaign brought you to Barie.AI. The information is generally aggregated and does not identify you personally; it is used to compile reports and metrics that help us optimize our offerings. We also may use our own internal analytics cookies for A/B testing new features or measuring the effectiveness of UI changes.
Functionality
In some cases, cookies allow us to provide additional functionality that is not strictly essential but enhances your experience. For example, if we implement a "remember me" feature for login, a cookie would store a token so that you don't have to re-enter your credentials each time. Functionality cookies might also store user preferences like volume settings for any media content or your agent configuration in a multi-agent workflow.
Advertising and Marketing (limited use)
Currently, Barie.AI does not host third-party advertisements and does not use cookies for third-party targeted advertising on our site. If this ever changes, such cookies would be used to make advertising messages more relevant to you. They would perform functions like preventing the same ad from continuously reappearing, ensuring ads are properly displayed for advertisers, and in some cases selecting advertisements based on your interests. We would update this policy and obtain any required consent before implementing such cookies. However, we might use cookies for our own marketing efforts – for example, a cookie that tracks if you visited our pricing page might be used to decide to show you an in-app message about a discount (this would be our own first-party usage, not sharing your data with advertisers).
Types of Cookies We Use
Here is a breakdown of the categories of cookies and specific examples that Barie.AI uses:
Authentication Cookies (Essential, First-Party)
- Purpose: To log you in and keep you logged in across browsing sessions.
- Example: session_id or auth_token – contains an encrypted token that identifies your account and login status. It's set when you log in and cleared when you log out.
- Duration: Typically session-only or a few days if "remember me" is checked.
Security Cookies (Essential, First-Party)
- Purpose: Help ensure security of the Service and user accounts.
- Example: csrf_token – helps prevent Cross-Site Request Forgery attacks by ensuring form submissions or actions are coming from you.
- Duration: Session.
Preferences Cookies (Functional, First-Party)
- Purpose: Store your preferences and settings.
- Example: lang – remembers your selected language (e.g., "en" for English).
- Example: theme – remembers if you set a dark or light theme.
- Duration: Persistent (e.g., 1 year) so your preference is saved for future visits.
Analytics Cookies (Performance, Third-Party – Google Analytics)
- Purpose: Collect site usage statistics to help us improve the Service.
- Examples: Google Analytics sets several cookies:
- _ga – used to distinguish users with a unique identifier (Google Analytics)
- _gid – used to distinguish users on a daily basis (Google Analytics)
- _gat – used to throttle request rate to Google Analytics servers.
- Duration: _ga is persistent (typically 2 years); _gid is 24 hours; _gat is 1 minute.
- More Info: Data from these cookies is sent to Google and used in accordance with Google's privacy policy. We do not use Google Analytics Advertising Features by default (which would involve additional cookies/trackers for remarketing or advertising). If we ever enable those, we will update our policy and obtain appropriate consents.
Analytics Cookies (Performance, First-Party or Other)
- Purpose: We may use other analytics or error tracking tools which set their own cookies. For example, if we use an error logging service or a self-hosted analytics solution, it might set a cookie to track a user session or whether a user has encountered a particular error.
- Example: ab_test_group – if we run an A/B test, this cookie could keep track of which test group you are in (e.g., "newUI" vs "oldUI") so that you get a consistent experience and we can measure outcomes.
- Duration: Typically short (session or a few weeks) or until the test concludes.
Support Cookies (Functional, Third-Party)
- Purpose: If we integrate a third-party live chat support widget or feedback tool, it may set cookies to manage sessions or feedback submissions.
- Example: If we use a service like Intercom or Zendesk for support chats, cookies might store your chat session ID or whether you have seen a welcome message.
- Duration: Depends on the third-party (could be session or persistent).
- Note: At present, we do not have such third-party support cookies in use, but we list this as a category we might add in future.
Stripe Cookies (Functional/Security, Third-Party)
- Purpose: When you make a payment through our site, Stripe (our payment processor) may place cookies or similar technologies for fraud prevention and to streamline the checkout process.
- Example: __stripe_sid and __stripe_mid – these are Stripe's cookies to distinguish users and detect potentially fraudulent behavior. They help Stripe remember your device between sessions (for example, to detect if a card is being used from a new device or location unexpectedly).
- Duration: __stripe_mid is persistent (1 year), __stripe_sid is session.
- More Info: These cookies are governed by Stripe's privacy policy. They do not store personal card information, but they might store device and network info to fight fraud.
Advertising Cookies
Currently none, as we do not run ads. (If in the future we partner with advertising networks or run any targeted advertising, those third-party cookies would be described here and would likely require opt-in consent in relevant jurisdictions.)
Third-Party Cookies and Tracking
Some cookies on our site are not controlled by us. When you visit Barie.AI, third-party services we use (like Google Analytics and Stripe) will set their own cookies as described. Additionally, if we embed content from other sites – for example, a YouTube video tutorial or a Twitter feed – those services may set cookies as well. We do not have direct control over the information those third parties collect via their cookies. These third parties may use the information collected by their cookies for their own purposes, such as improving their own services or in accordance with their privacy policies.
For instance:
- Google Analytics cookies send data about your use of our site to Google's servers, and Google may use this data to evaluate website activity and create reports for us. Google may also use data collected via our site for improving their own products and services. However, we have not enabled Google to use our analytics data for their advertising or benchmarking services (to our knowledge). You can read more about how Google uses data from sites that use its services here.
- Stripe's cookies and scripts run on payment pages. They collect device information (like your IP, browser type, device type) and transaction info to help detect fraudulent transactions. This information can also help streamline the payment process (for example, by remembering that you used a particular card or payment method before, Stripe can pre-fill some info for you on your next purchase, if applicable). Stripe does not use this info to advertise, but purely for security and user experience on checkout. See Stripe's cookie documentation or privacy policy for details.
- If we use any social media or login integrations (for example, "Sign in with Google" or "Continue with GitHub"), those providers may set cookies to manage the login process and remember that you authorized our app. Such cookies would be specific to the third-party domain (e.g., Google) and controlled by them.
We will update our Cookies Policy to reflect any significant changes in third-party cookies in use.
Your Choices: Managing and Opting Out of Cookies
You have the right to decide whether to accept or reject cookies, aside from the strictly necessary ones. Here are ways you can manage cookies:
Browser Settings
Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings preferences. You can typically set your browser to refuse certain cookies or to prompt you before accepting cookies. You can also delete cookies at any time. The following links provide information about how to manage cookie settings on common browsers:
- Google Chrome
- Mozilla Firefox
- Apple Safari
- Microsoft Edge
- Opera
Keep in mind, if you disable all cookies, our site may not function properly (for example, you won't be able to log in as the authentication cookie is necessary). It's usually possible to block third-party cookies but allow first-party cookies (which can strike a balance between privacy and usability).
Cookies Banner (Consent Tool)
On our first interaction with you (especially if you are in the EU or a region requiring consent), we provide a cookies consent banner. This banner allows you to accept all cookies or reject non-essential cookies. If you reject, we will not set analytics or other optional cookies. You can also customize your preference to only allow certain categories if our tool supports that. You can revisit your cookie preferences by clicking the "Cookie Settings" link in our website footer (if available) or contacting us.
Google Analytics Opt-Out
Google provides a browser add-on to opt out of Google Analytics tracking for all websites. If you want to opt out of Google Analytics across all sites, you can install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. Keep in mind this is a broad opt-out and might affect the functionality of some sites that rely on analytics.
Do Not Track (DNT) and Global Privacy Control (GPC)
"Do Not Track" is a browser setting that requests that a web application disable its tracking of an individual user. Global Privacy Control is a newer specification that signals a universal opt-out preference, including the opt-out of sale under CCPA. Our site currently honors GPC signals to the extent required by law (treating it as a request to opt out of sale/sharing of personal info for California residents) and will treat it as a general "opt-out of non-essential cookies" signal for other users where feasible. DNT signals, outside of the legal context, are not consistently honored by all websites. We currently do not respond to DNT headers in a uniform way, but we provide the above tools for you to manage cookies.
Third-Party Opt-Outs
Some third parties offer their own opt-out mechanisms. For example, if we had advertising cookies, companies often are part of industry opt-out pages like the NAI Opt-Out or Your Online Choices (EU). Since we don't have advertising cookies currently on Barie.AI, this is more for your general awareness.
Remember, your cookie preferences are typically stored in a cookie! So if you clear all cookies, you may need to re-set your preferences on our site. Also, preferences are often browser-specific, meaning if you use a different browser or device, you'll need to set your choices there as well.
Changes to This Cookies Policy
We may update this Cookies Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, legal requirements, or our usage of cookies. When we make material changes, we will notify you via a prominent notice on our website (and/or via email if appropriate), and update the Effective Date at the top of this policy. We encourage you to review this Cookies Policy periodically to stay informed about our use of cookies and related technologies.
If you have given us consent to use certain cookies, and we plan to use new cookies that would require additional consent, we will seek your consent accordingly. For example, if we decide to start using cookies for targeted advertising, we will first update this policy and obtain any legally required opt-in consent before doing so.
